Dr. Seiji Goshima
A Welcome Message
Dr. Seiji Goshima
President of The Japanese Association of Benthology
Professor of Hokkaido University, Japan
On behalf of The Japanese Association of Benthology, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the First Asian Marine Biology Symposium to be held in Phuket, Thailand, from December 13 to 17, 2012. The symposium will be held under the auspices of Kasetsart University and Phuket Marine Biological Center, Thailand, The Korean Association of Benthology, and Japanese Association of Benthology.
In Asian countries, marine ecosystem has supported demands for various natural resources including foods, and contributed to forming the basic structure of the society of each country. In the near future prospect, conservation and proper development of marine ecosystem will become more important social issue for ensuring the sustainability of our regional societies. Increasing numbers of researchers are studying marine biology and ecology that deal with various aquatic organisms in Asian countries. However, we have limited chances to exchange the research information, and discuss future research. Therefore, “The First Asian Marine Biology Symposium” would be now strongly expected to hold. Here, I am highly honored and delighted to give you a message of welcome as a member of the organizing committee.
I hope all participants will greatly enjoy the symposium, and wish you every success in your deliberations.
